StroVak® is a polyvalent vaccine containing inactivated microorganisms of certain species: Escherichia coli (6 strains), Morganella morganii, Proteus mirabilis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis, belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are caused mainly by the penetration of bacteria from the group of intestinal flora into the urinary tract, such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, or fecal enterococcus.
In healthy people, microorganisms are washed out of the urinary tract by the stream of urine.
In patients with a corresponding predisposition and/or with high virulence of microorganisms, the infection is usually caused by the adhesion of bacteria to the epithelium of the urinary tract. Factors of virulence of microorganisms, such as serotype and type of fimbriae, as well as the state of local immunity, thus have a decisive importance in the occurrence and development of urinary tract infections.
